General surgery, despite its name, is a surgical specialty that focuses on
surgical treatment of abdominal organs, e.g. intestines including esophagus,
stomach, colon, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, and often include endocrine
surgery, breast surgery and hernia surgery. The General Surgeons Association GSA Board of Management is currently comprised of representatives from specialty interest groups of General Surgery, including Breast, Endocrine, Hepatopancreaticobiliary, Upper Gastrointestinal, Head and Neck, Oncology, Trauma, and Rural surgery, as well as Specialist General Surgeons.
